okay i have a 2001 new beetle 1.8 turbo. i have 3 things i have questions on and im wondering if im the only one who experiences these. first sometimes when i first start up my car and put it in reverse to back out of a parking spot or driveway my brakes will lock up and the brake pedal wont go down like usual. i dont know why this happens but its scary. it hasnt happened while driving just when starting up my car. second, also when in reverse and i turn my wheel i always hear a loud noise when turning either right or left, im wondering if something is wrong with my steering colum or axle. lastly, as i have been driving recently i will hear what sounds like air leaking for a couple seconds, sometimes longer. but it sounds the loudest from the drivers side around the door panel. its weird and sometimes it will make the noise while my foot is on the pedal and stop when i let go of the pedal or visa versa. just thought id ask here rather than spending the ridiculous 100 dollar inspection fee at vw. can anyone help. you can email me at my personal email too. nicoleebarden@aol.com thank you all so much :)
