Here is a WOT to the redline test of my 6-cyl. car with measuring blocks open on the camshaft positions and misfire counting on bank 1 (bank 2 can be implied to have had no misfires). The test resulted in a flashing CEL and 5 fault codes thrown.

On Bank 1, I got -12 and -21 when adjustment was active (completely off spec.), which obviously totally baffled the computer and caused it to fault the camshaft position sensor itself! (though I never understood why the G40 camshaft position sensor 1 is mounted onto the back of bank 2) On Bank 2, the only questionable thing about the results is the initial position at 14degrees, which is too low (<16) for when camshaft adjustment is active. What do you folks make of this? Did bank 1 just totally lose compression once adjustment was active. How could it have adjusted the wrong direction like this? What possibly could be wrong with my engine's setup? |
