For the last three weeks, on a daily basis, sometimes 5 times per day, because my wife is a registered Democrat we get phone calls from the State Dem. party. We also get three to five mailers per day (which BTW since Aug. 1st we have accumulated 5 lbs of mail from them, so much for the green campaign) which end up in the trash.

Last Monday my wife called the Dem. party and asked them to remove her from the call and mail list. The supervisor said they would.

Last Monday, no calls
Last Tuesday, no calls
Last Weds. morning, no calls
Last Weds. afternoon, between 4 pm and 9pm 4 calls
Last Thursday, according to caller ID, 5 calls between 9am and 5 pm
Last Friday, 7 calls
Saturday, 3 calls, with the last one coming at 9:15pm
Sunday, 4 calls

So today my wife calls and demands to speak to the head of the state Dem. party. He's not available she's told. So she demands a call back or we will call our lawyer. Finally about 3pm, just after I get home, his assistant calls. With me conferencing the call, she tells him that she wants removed from the mail and phone list, that she is tired of the calls, mailers and invasion of privacy. His exact quote:
"Ma'am I understand your problem, but WE DON'T HAVE TO REMOVE YOU FROM THE LIST"

Me: "So what about my right to privacy?"

Him: "We don't have to respect your privacy, you phone number is public information and we are not covered under the do not call list"

Me: "Actually, our number is unlisted and unpublished, so it's not public info, same with both of our cell phones."

Him: <<long pause>>"Well, either way, we are exempt from the do not call lists, so you'll have to live with it for the next 29 days."

Me: "Care to tell me how you got our number?" (actually I already know this answer, the same way they got our email address, from my wife's aunt who's in with the party)

Him: "I can't devulge that information, is there anything else? If not I'm very busy."

Me: "No, but I think I will contact my lawyer, because your calls are bordering on harrassment, and you've been asked at least twice to remove us from the list"
