The VP has no Constitutionally specified duties in the Executive Branch other than serving as the next in line should the President be incapacitated.
The VP does have a formal function in the Legislative Branch, serving as the President of the Senate and casting any tiebreaking vote. As far as I know, the office of the VP is the only federal posting that officially serves in more than one branch of government.
