I have enough glass that it'd suck to bail on Canon. 85 1.2L, 24-105 4L, 70-200 2.8L and a 10-22 It'd cost me more than a 50D in resale loss to move to Nikon. While I like the Canon interface I know it would be only a matter of time to feel the same way on the Nikon. My theory on the 50d over the 1dmk3 is that it might be a stop gap until they bounce one back over the D3. You know it's coming.

The 50d more than doubles my current fps and resolution / image size. That's a nice jump. While it's not 10fps it should still yield more keepers than the 30d. Besides, shooting it on snow all winter makes having a more disposable body a good thing.
