which is enough for most lens movement sports photography requires.

ReallyRightStuff now makes a very decent tilt head for monopods (before this, they advocated use of Bogen/Manfrotto 3232 tilt head), but I doubt either of them is popular with sports photographers

Even quick-release systems aren't that popular for sports photography, as you'd rarely need to disconnect the lens from the monopod
