I just leased a 2008 Passat Turbo a week ago with the ContiProContact OE tires. After a week with them on both wet and dry pavement, I spent the weekend researching tires. Today I went out and replaced them with Michelin Primacy MXV4s. What a difference a tire makes. The Passat definitely feels like a German touring sedan! I couldn't get over the difference in the way the Michelins grip the road. I went on a 100 mile 'roadtrip' to test the tires over a variety of roads - Interstate, state/county roads, concrete, asphalt, excellent repair, bumpy with holes. The Michelins were wonderful. On top of that they were quiet. The ride was a little rougher than the Continentals but I've read the Michelins can be a little sensitive to overpressure. I haven't checked the tire pressure since they were installed but will do that tomorrow morning when they're cold as I suspect that may be the problem. Overall, it feels like a totally different car, and I mean that in a good way!
