I think the low beams run on low power for the DRL's. The HID systems do not like that at all. I think you need to buy the european switch and one other thing to disable the DRL's. Check out www.b5one.com forums, they have a lot of guys with passats running HIDs. (and they are well, MUCH more active than this Passat forum...
