I just read great news in the latest Car and Driver that the new GTI with DSG will be available in the US sooner than first reported. They might show up here as early as February. Although I really like the new A3, I hate the looks of a small wagon and don't need that since I also have an SUV for all the chores. I wanted the DSG option from the TT, but with enough seats to carry my wife and two teenage boys who are as big as me. The older one will drive in a few months followed by the younger one in a few more years. This car could be in the family for awhile. They all agree (with less than lukewarm response) that the front of the A3 is cool, but from the B-pillar back, it's all wagon or mini-Avant. No matter how you may dress it up with aero goodies, it's a wagon. I have driven a DSG equipped TT and A3 with Sport package and know that's what I want. It's a lot of fun and can be left in auto-mode when necessary. Does anyone know if the new GTI is available with heated seats? I hope VW is smart enough to offer them versus losing me. My family really doesn't want a wagon.
