Whooohoo! Now we're talkin'! This is the second Disco Potato circus act we've installed in a transverse MKIV vehicle and we are much much more than pleasantly surprised. The boys at APR have done a great job of comprising a very comprehensive and easy to install turbo upgrade kit.
We've done some turbo upgrades and found, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that it is hundreds, if not thousands of dollars cheaper to purchase a nicely engineered kit that is a turn-key operation.
The last one we installed consisted of a customer supplied half-ass ATP kit and parts from all over the world. Everything was missing and we had to leave the shop 60 times to by fittings, hoses, hardware, and 45lbs of Guinea Pig food(that was completely consumed by us). It was nothing short of stupid and ridiculous. We had the vehicle for over a month! We logged nearly 50 hours on the vehicle and (of course) billed about 25. The vehicle STILL has no real software to run it, although we got it running very strong with what we have in there. Although not dyno'd, my guess is 250hp to the pavement as opposed to 350hp. The efficiency of the APR kit is, simply, non-comparable to anything else we've seen so far.
My hat is off to APR on this kit! As well, after adding up the cost of all the parts in the APR kit, I have no idea how they are even making any money. 5k is a hit to the wallet, but you don't even know what the ATP kit (with no operating system) has cost the guy who tried to save a buck.
Cheers,
~elf
