My GF has a 2003 Jetta GL 2.0 with 49k miles on it and occasionally the car will not go out of Park and into Gear..has something to do with the release switch that normally "clicks" when you push the brake down...except nothing happens when pushing the brake down. Almost had it towed today but right before they showed up i heard the lock "click" after trying a hundred times and was able to move it from park to drive to head home..and ofcourse as soon as i get it home and put it in park it does it again with another EPC light.

anyone know what this could be? Dont want to drop it off blindly at the dealer to get reamed
