My Golf's new exhaust tips:
I started with turn-down tips, but decided to change those as the resonance in the cabin was too loud for my tastes. Therefore, I also had to get the newer rear valence. Originally I liked the idea of the turn-down tips and the hidden valence as my intent for this car is to keep it stealth. So, while I did change the tips to now come straight out, I still kept them as simple round stock, similar to stock tips on newer models. I ended up painting the rear of the muffler with black BBQ grill paint as well, for the stealth factor...
Don't mind the tilted muffler - I've since replaced the clamps so it now stays straight.
With the new valence, we had to redirect the tips as you saw above to come out the OEM cutout, similar to how the stock exhaust on the newer cars is:
