From the bed it's about 16 feet.......at first I thought the 42 would be too big but it's perfect. Retailers will be giving stuff away after Thanksgiving.......last year I paid $650 for mine. No reason for 1080P in a bedroom unless you're hooking up blu ray to it. A nice 720 will make the room. Good luck
