As the owner, I was comfortable with either. For visitors (like my brother), finding the volume +/- and channel +/- on the 880 is very difficult. They don't stand out and you need 20/15 vision in broad daylight to see the text that says "VOL" and "CH". Those buttons are right where you will want them under your thumb, but human nature seems to make you look for them and that's where the hangup is. I think my parents would not be able to use the 880 due to the tiny font used.
On the One the buttons are in nearly the same place, and the text size is not much bigger. But those buttons now stand alone, which helps, and the backlighting is much better. On the 880, they don't actually look like buttons. They look like a piece of brushed metal trim. The guesswork has been taken out of the One.
Also on the One, the buttons that you would use to operate a DVR or DVD player are layed out such that you can work them without having to look at the remote. "Play" is in the middle... reverse is on the left and forward is on the right. Pause is below play. On the 880 these are all grouped together in same-size buttons which require you to look for the one you want to press.
I should ask my wife for her review. She's used both and can tell me if it matters to her or not.
