I've looked at the popcorn boxes, but the shitty UI and numerous firmware issues have kept me away. For now I'm using a modded Xbox running XBMC @720p (no HD content for now though). Hard to beat for <$100 if you don't need to playback HD content (though it can scale SD content to 480p/720p/1080i for output)
