In Reply to: I usually try to be nice... but scaling 720/1080 content DOWN to 480 so you can scale it up to 1080p posted by dloftis on 2008-10-22 06:57:25

I'm talking about 480i native broadcasts. Now my STB upscales it to 1080i with HDMI. Upscaling isn't a possibility with my Pioneer Elite receiver via HDMI, or for feeds broadcast above 480i/480p. The Motorola STB, like all Motorola STBs available now, doesn't offer a an all around native output. This is the only setting which would allow a 480i signal to go to my receiver without processing. Then, I would have the option to have the Pioneer AVR do the upscaling from 480i to 1080p with what I am assuming is a more powerful processor processor (instead of 1080i the generic Motorola box).

My concern is any signal degradation from going from an HDMI cable to component as far as video, or from HDMI to optical digital for audio.

But, you know what... don't bother answering. I asked on AVSForums and got many informative answers from people who actually know what they are talking about. I ask here and get your arrogant ass wasting my time. First and last time I ask anything over here. Go f*ck yourself.

    Untracked.
