I think I'm going to go this route afterall for the cheap/temporary solution. My gf insists and I'm starting to agree that it looks pretty good on the white wall as is, so I'm thinking just to add some contrast and screen definition (so I don't just have a blank wall), I'll paint it and frame it in black velvet tape or whatever that stuff is.
