there's a few writeups on this on some of the other home theater forums, that shows the distances you'd have to sit to appreciate 1080p.

Based on your situation, you should be fine. Like I mentioned in another similar thread recently... don't get too hung up on a "number" that could potentially be meaningless for your situation, especially if you are on a budget and could potentially be saving a ton of money.
