The XA2 is more like the Sony ES line, correct? At least the S500.

The S300 is just the entry level Sony.

It does now decode TrueHD with current firmware, but I don't believe it will do DTS-HD or MA.

The upcoming S550 is going to be the end all/be all of features, bitstreaming and decoding everything, and supposedly including 7.1 analog outs, plus 2.0 out of the box.

At only a $499 price point, though, I'm skeptical of the build quality. The similar player from Panasonic has an MSRP of $699. I guess we'll see.
