As long is it is properly ventilated, noise isn't a problem. Supposedly the newer ones run cooler, which helps as well.

The only drawbacks are the lack of analog outs and the fact that you have to buy a work around to control it with an IR remote.

However, you're not going to get one for $200 anytime soon.

On the S300, bear in mind that firmware updates have greatly improved load times (or so I've read), if that is what is scaring you off in the reviews.
