Same thing happened to me recently when I was without a phono stage for 2 months..

I re-discovered my CD collection. it was all good and well, but there were two problems;
I have lots of things on vinyl you can't get/I don't have on CD, and I missed the sound of vinyl. CD just sounds too sterile and lacking musicality, even with a top notch transport and tube DAC.

Not even the CD players at silly prices can beat a good vinyl rig. CD has never sounded better, but vinyl players have improved a more in the last 10 years than CD players have.
