display HD - so they need a HD tv. The format is the same for all HD tv 780p or 1080i. If they have a TV that is PAL then it is not a HD tv.

Probably Nero is one of the best video editing software.

As far as hardware - they will need a blu-ray burner and of course a blu-ray player for the tv.
I recommend Sony as one of the most reliable for a camcorder and blu-ray players.
