| all components in good working order - would have made it to 105k easy |
All of the parts were okay. This car would have made it to the original 105k service interval with no problems. The class action suit and the recall specifically say that if the components are in good working order Audi is supposed to warrent the timing belt to 105k.
The service invoice says that the belt has cracks on the outer end and is glazed. I inspected this belt inch by inch under a bright light. There is not a single crack and the rubber is not dried out or glazed. I question whether the dealer even inspected the belt at all.
I am all for preventative maintenance, but just throwing new parts on a car before they are required is a complete waste of time, money, and resources.
I am going to replace all of the parts as I already have the kit and have the front end in service mode. I'm just a little disappointed with the dealer service call. I am also going to write a letter to Audi and include pictures of the components to show that I am not making this up. They should pay for this repair as they incorrectly diagnosed this vehicle against a court order. That is not right.
